The Edge Community Newspaper has been proud to serve the Sedgefield and Knysna communities for 22 years. We have always believed in providing honest, straight-forward news, always free, to everyone. From local goings-on, sports and entertainment, to hard news that tells truth to power, and stands up for the rights of everyone who lives in this wonderful part of the world.
We are passionate about our role as a community newspaper, and nothing pleases us more than featuring our very own residents, their achievements and their activities in our pages.
As importantly, The EDGE is also tasked with being the watchdog of our local authorities, pointing out their failures and highlighting their successes. We are often the ones to ask the tough questions on behalf of our residents, many of whom might not otherwise have a voice.
Of course, we have been able to do all this every fortnight since 1998 because we have been blessed with the loyal advertising support of so many local businesses, and for this we are ever grateful.
However, in these strange times, when getting independent and truthful information out to the public is more essential than ever, we realise that the ‘new normal’ includes a substantial drop in income. Advertising budgets have been slashed as local businesses attempt to regain traction in the aftermath of the two-year COVID-19 pandemic, leaving us in the position of looking for new ways of ensuring your Edge Newspaper can continue to serve the community.
We have often been asked why we do not charge each reader for their copy of The EDGE. Our answer remains the same:- local news should reach everyone that lives in this area, and we would hate for those without reasonable income to miss out on staying informed for the sake of a few coins. However, as is the trend with newspapers worldwide, modern technology now allows us to offer a ‘voluntary subscription’ for those who believe The EDGE plays an important role in our community, and are able to afford a small monthly fee towards continuing this role.
If you would like to be a part of ensuring that The EDGE Community Newspaper continues keeping Sedgefield, informed, involved, entertained and, perhaps most importantly, united, please consider signing up for a small monthly subscription by clicking on one of the buttons below. Your subscription may be instantly stopped at any time via email. Alternatively – you may prefer to set up your own payment directly into The EDGE account via EFT. You may do this using the following banks details.
